The Past:Forward Conference
September, 2019 | Eindhoven & Waalre, The Netherlands
From September 9th till 11th, the Past:Forward Conference took place in Eindhoven en Waalre, The Netherlands. This international conference had as main theme 'commemoration and remembrance'. The conference was hosted in the context of celebrating 75 years of freedom in the province of North-Brabant, the region where the event took place. Past:Forward was a project by Erfgoed Brabant and carried out for Brabant Remembers. In hosting the event, Erfgoed Brabant worked together with the Stichting Herdenking Brabantse Gesneuvelden.
The programme, and connected features of the event, were organized by a project team of young professionals and students from the Netherlands. In spite that the Past:Forward Conference was not hosted by the Future is Heritage, the Future is Heritage network was highly involved in both organizing and forming the results of the event. The network was also well represented under the attendees.
Three theme tracks were at the centre during the event. Within these tracks, presentations and workshops were held by mostly young professionals. The theme tracks were as followed:
Besides these presentations, a lot of other activities were organized. Examples of this are a theatre performance by Theater na de Dam, a daily talk show, a pop-up museum and a final artistic performance during the annual remembrance service in Waalre.
